Public Health Practice

The Department of Public Health Practice will serve as an operational link between the Faculty and external partners in the practice of public health. It will be a resource for continuing education, operational research and development. In collaboration with the Ministry of Health and/or other agencies, it will co‐develop off‐campus sites, (e.g. a “Teaching Health Unit” and/or “Model Intervention Site”), with mutually agreed responsibilities for service in a designated community, thereby to contribute experiential settings for teaching and research. This will entail recruiting on‐site operational staff in addition to faculty and student involvement. The sites will be available for collaborative participation by other faculties. It will develop capacities that simulate functional public health systems: health situation analysis, disease surveillance and field investigations, intervention testing, planning, monitoring and evaluation.
